Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
In this passage Jesus plainly states that if you work and are weighed down and want rest, come to Him. Putting on His yoke and taking on the burden He gives you will provide rest for your soul. His yoke is easy. His burden is light.
I believe God’s word.
If you’re a follower of Jesus, ask yourself today: When I took on the yoke of Christ, did I remove the burdens of the world? Am I clinging to the burdens of my previous masters (sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, popularity, social pressures, wealth)? Am I worn down because I never gave up worldly yokes and burdens? Am I trying to serve the meek and loving master while also conforming to the slave-driving world we live in?
God’s word is clear. Let’s take on Christ’s yoke, let’s learn of Him, and let’s release the other yokes. Serve the Lord and obey His word. It will guide you in all things related to life and righteousness. Jesus will give your soul rest.
