Man looking in mirror

Read Obadiah 1:3-4.

3 “The pride and arrogance of your heart have deceived you,
You who live in the clefts and lofty security of the rock (Sela),
Whose dwelling place is high,
Who say [boastfully] in your heart,
‘Who will bring me down to earth?’

4 “Though you build [your nest] on high like the eagle,
Though you set your nest among the stars,
I will bring you down from there,” says the Lord.

Pride feels so good and destroys so thoroughly. Every good thing we have came from Almighty God, not almighty us. The fact we can do nothing on our own should humble us, even when we’re in high places. Especially when we’re in high places.

If we keep thinking we’ve done it ourselves, we lose touch with reality. When we lose touch with reality, our ego leads us to forget the Lord. When we forget the Lord, we start thinking our futures and our destinations are in our own hands. Next comes destruction.
